Q: What's a Pelvic Exam?

A: If you've never head a pelvic exam before, we encourage you to talk with the clinician about any worries you may have before the exam. All of our clinicians are women and they do exams on teens every day, so there's no reason to feel embarrassed....ask her anything!

Q: Will the Pill make me fat?

A: No. Studies have shown that using the Pill, the Patch, or the Ring does not cause weight gain or loss.

The pill is up to 99.7 percent effective against pregnancy when used correctly. Like all methods of birth controlVoluntary limitation or control of the number of children conceived, especially by planned use of contraceptive techniques. it has both advantages and disadvantages. Q: Is that discharge "down there" a sexually transmitted infection?

A: Good question! Most girls worry about this discharge a lot! Discharge is totally normal and good for us! During puberty, the vagina starts to produce a discharge that can be white, or clear. It is called leukorrhea. This discharge helps to naturally clean the vagina.

Q: Is masturbating bad for me?

A: A lot of people worry that masturbation (or playing with yourself) is "dirty" or wrong. But masturbation is a healthy and normal thing to do and people of all ages do it. Girls do it and boys do it but, it's up to you if you want to do it.

Q: If I'm a guy, can PPWP help me?

A: Yes, we have services for men too! Men come to our health centers to pick up condoms, Plan B (emergency contraception) and to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases.

Q: Do I have to tell my parents when I come to PPWP?

A: You do not need your parents' permission to visit us and we will not tell your parents you came to PPWP! Pennsylvania state law does not require parental notification for reproductive health services, but we recommend involving your parents or other trusted adults when you make important health care decisions, so you can get the support you need - when you need it!
